Info Pimp

"Libraries are brothels for the mind. Which means that librarians are the madams, greeting punters, understanding their strange tastes and needs, and pimping their books." Guy Browning (The Guardian column, www.guardian.co.uk 18 October 2003)

trifling update

Well, here we are.
It’s been a full on few weeks. And in 2 days time I’ll have a weeks’ holiday, which is a beautiful thing to behold.
Oh to have a little breathing space in my life.
After yesterday's tears, this morning was quite good. Zen-dog and I went for a wonderful walk around Sydney Park. Well, I walked and she did doughnuts around me like a crazy thing! *laughs*
It’s lifted my mood a little, but anything is better than yesterday. Oh that was an ugly day. (Yes, yes, Obama won, ‘tis brilliant, sure. I gave me a moment to sigh with relief, but it didn’t have any bearing my immediate mental state yeah).
I’m thinking that my bad head might have a little to do with my body adjusting to the different fuel I’m giving it at the moment. After all, it’s been about 5 days now since I’ve eaten any sugar.
Yes. You heard correctly. Miss sugar-addiction has stopped. Cold turkey pretty much. I’ve still had a serve or two of fruit each day, or a glass of milk (cow/soy/rice) here and there. But no sugar. Even when I came into work to find my colleague had gifted me a bar of 70% dark lindt choc I still didn’t!
Here’s hoping things only get better from here.

Stay strong, dear one! Breaking an addiction sucks mightily but it will be so worth it in the end. Kicking coffee was painful, but I am so pleased that I did it. Feeling like I don't owe my sanity to the ability to imbibe caffeine at any given moment, and correspondingly, being able to actually sleep at night: these have improved my life greatly. You will like life without the sugar-high-then-low cycle, I think.

Happy that we get to go out dancing before you leave on your lovely holiday- see you on the dancefloor xxx

Thanks guys.
I'm actually surprised at how 'easy' it is. Compared to the minor hell that is giving up coffee this has limited physical side effects.
I'm trying to explain away to my self, the strange moods swings, as just a version on normal. Haha.
